This classification is part of the World Ranking of WAWWJ (World Association of Journalists and Writers of Wines, Liquors and others).

The EVOO World Ranking is a non-profit ranking, which has been created to promote the world's most awarded EVOO's and flavored OO-based products worldwide to consumers. It rewards EVOO'S and flavored OO-based products ones, who have participated in the world in any of the contests held during the year considered EVOOWR.

When selecting competitions to be included in the ranking, priority is given to those with systems that focus on and support producers.

No negative emphasis is made on competitions not included in the ranking. Competitions not listed in the ranking may be part of a different system, newly established, or high-quality competitions operating with a different evaluation method.
The aim of EVOOWR is not to create a negative impact on competitions it does not include in its list.
The EVOOWR organizing committee is solely responsible for deciding which competitions to include or exclude from the list, according to its internal regulations. It holds no responsibility toward any competition.

EVOOWR does not commit to including any competition in its system and does not charge any fee for competitions that are included.

Competitions conducted entirely or partially online cannot be included in EVOOWR under any circumstances.

Competitions included in the ranking must fully adhere to sensory analysis rules.
Olive oil samples should be tested according to COI (International Olive Council) rules (e.g., samples must be stored under appropriate and identical conditions after acceptance until the competition date. Bottles must remain unopened until the competition, not divided into separate bottles or shipped under different conditions. Ultimately, all products must be presented to the jury under equal and identical conditions).
The tasting room conditions, tasting glasses, and tasting equipment must also comply with COI standards.

Classifications of books or magazines that are not International Competitions, and contests that are carried out partially or totally virtually are not included. Every year the list of contests that will be taken into account is published. The competitions are classified by continent and country, where the Mario Solinas from COI, is the most important. Also rotated by continent (or sub area of the world) and number of samples and participating countries.

The EVOOs are awarded with the "EVOO of the Year" and only the EVOOs that exceed the 160 points reach this award.

This allows us to know which EVOOs are the most awarded in the world, also the societies, the best by variety or type, and what area of the world they are from. Five years ago this World Ranking was published to communicate to the consumer the quality of THE MOST AWARDED EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OILS IN THE WORLD, but it was made more than ten years ago based on the ranking system WRW & S (World Ranking Wine & Spirit) created in the year 1997 by the WAWWJ (World Association of Journalists of Wine and the Spirit).
